SILENT HILL: Townfall Part 1 Walkthrough: Arrival
The order Part 1 actually uses: the dock and the padlocked gate, the CRTV, the organ transplant box, the Hallane Hotel key and the Shorefront Clinic scales.
What Part 1 covers
Part 1 is titled Arrival and opens with Simon Ordell climbing out of the water at St. Amelia. It ends when the story sends you back to the pharmacy on Main Street. Everything in between is exploration, two lock puzzles and one object puzzle. There is no boss fight in this chapter.
The chapter is deliberately open. Simon can walk into closed shops, read notices and take dead ends before the game points him anywhere. The useful thing to hold on to is the order in which the requirements unlock, not a fixed route.
The order that works
- Land at the dock. Confirm the medical bracelet on Simon and read the Harbor Master note on the door: boat sightseeing tours are cancelled for the foreseeable future.
- Go around the padlocked gate. The gate on the dock path carries a padlock you cannot open yet. A ladder further along the same path puts you on the other side, so the padlock is a marker for a later return rather than a blocker.
- Walk the town front. East Shore Road, the tourist centre, the ice cream shop and the St. Amelia pharmacy are all shut. The pharmacy doors stay locked at this point and the road closure notice mentions an authorised protest event, which is the town’s explanation for the closed streets.
- Pick up the CRTV. A scripted story beat hands Simon the pocket television. From here the game expects you to tune it regularly rather than treat it as scenery.
- Reach Zoe Ellis’s house. The back door key was left with Walter at number 16, and the house connects to the transplant objective.
- Open the human organ transplant box. This is the chapter’s first real gate. It needs mains power and an electronic lock code.
- Restore power, then read the code. The clinic/house power runs on an electric credit card system, and the card comes from a newsagent.
- Take the date from the room to the hotel. The date entry at the house yields a room key for the Hallane Hotel.
- Enter the Hallane Hotel and work down to the reception area.
- Clear the Shorefront Family Clinic, which holds the scales puzzle and Zoe Ellis’s medical card.
- Return to the pharmacy on Main Street. That is where Part 1 hands over.
Systems Part 1 teaches
The CRTV. Hold L1 to raise the television, then sweep frequencies with L2 and R2. Signals are location- and time-dependent, so the same spot can give you nothing on the first pass and a signal later. Confirmed signals are stored and you cycle between them with left and right on the D-pad, which turns the CRTV into a navigation and evasion tool rather than a collectible.
Peek. Hold R1 to look over or around cover while staying hidden. The game introduces it during a section where standing up is a bad idea.
Saving. Save points appear in the open, and the chapter is generous with them. Because weapons and health items are rare, saving before a room you have not read yet is cheaper than reloading a lost fight.
The organ transplant box
The box is inside Zoe Ellis’s house and the objective appears before you have any way to open it. Two separate requirements gate it:
- Power. The lock is electronic and the house is dark. Power comes from a credit card system: insert the electric card, apply the credit, then push the master power switch. The card itself is bought from a newsagent, so the town layout matters before the puzzle does.
- The code. The lock code is issued electronically rather than written on the box, which is why the house’s computer and the clinic records matter.
In one launch-window playthrough the credit step used the value 311 on the card reader. Treat that as a single-source observation, not a universal constant: the reader takes a card credit, not a story code, and other playthroughs may differ.
The Hallane Hotel key
The house contains a date entry that produces a key rather than opening a door. In the same playthrough the date 18 January 1996 was accepted. The result was room key 204 for the Hallane Hotel. The hotel then opens as the next area, with staff notices about rooms reserved and filled from the second floor down.
Both values come from one playthrough, so they are recorded as an attributed example. The method matters more than the digits: the chapter hides dates in documents and expects you to reuse them on keypads.
The Shorefront Clinic scales
The clinic is where Part 1 turns into an object puzzle. You collect items through the chapter, a stethoscope among them. The puzzle is built around placing them on a set of scales and reading the result, not entering a number.
The clinic also hands over Zoe Ellis’s medical card, which is why the clinic is a required stop instead of an optional one. Expect at least one enemy outside the clinic door when you leave.
Confirmed structure and single-source values
Part 1’s exact puzzle answers are not the same thing as its structure. The order above is stable. The two headline gates, power and then the code, are confirmed by the chapter itself. Individual dial values, item counts and enemy placements are recorded from one playthrough. Recheck them against your own build if a number does not take.

Structure and the CRTV, peek and power systems are corroborated by the chapter itself and by IGN’s Part 1 page. The date, room number and card credit values are from a single launch-window playthrough and are labelled as such above.
FAQ
Is this a full-game walkthrough?
No. It covers Part 1: Arrival only, from the landing to the return to the pharmacy.
Can I skip the closed shops?
Yes. The tourist centre, ice cream shop and pharmacy are readable but locked during Part 1, so treat them as information rather than detours.
Why is the padlocked gate still locked?
It is a return marker. The ladder gives you access around it, and the padlock is not part of the Part 1 critical path.
