The developer shipped the promised performance patch on 30 September. The notes describe one specific change: reduced stuttering caused by shader precompilation. Everything else on this page follows from checking whether you actually have that version.

How to confirm the fix is installed

Open the main menu and read the version number in the lower right corner. The 30 September notice says it should read v1.4.153829.

The patch announcement is titled Patch 1.3.1, which is why the two numbers do not match. The patch number is in the title, the build number is on screen.

If your build is older, nothing below applies yet.

What the developer said before the patch

A notice published around launch said an update was in progress to address performance issues affecting the Steam version, and that a date would follow once confirmed.

That notice is worth keeping in mind, because it sets the expectation: the studio committed to performance work before the complaint volume built up.

What players still report

Not everyone is satisfied. A review with more than 750 upvotes says the author refunded the game over performance, running an RTX 5080 and still seeing stutter on high settings. The same reviewer notes the previous two entries had similar problems.

That is a player report, not a developer statement. It does not contradict the patch, because the patch addresses shader precompilation stutter rather than every frame-drop source.

What to change and what not to

  1. Confirm the version first.
  2. Let the first launch finish its shader work before judging frame rate. Precompilation stutter is worst before the cache is built.
  3. Lower settings only after the version check, so you are not tuning around a bug that was already fixed.
  4. If stutter persists in one specific area rather than everywhere, note where, because that is a different report.

The rest of the launch fixes

The same window produced two other official notices. One confirmed that an issue preventing some DLC content from unlocking had been resolved, with instructions to restart the Steam app while online. The other announced the upcoming update plans covered above.

Nothing official describes the current frame rate target or recommended settings.
